Henry C. Sidok
December 6, 1929 – May 22, 2022
Henry C. Sidok, age 92, of Providence, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Wingate on the East. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Brown) Sidok.
Born in Albany, New York, a son of the late Stanley J. and Goldie (Jefferson) Sidok, he spent his youth in Newport, RI, lived in Rehoboth for 20 years, moving to Touisset Point in Warren, RI in 1983. He wintered in Punta Gorda, Florida since 2001.
In 1972, he founded the Home & Commercial Security, Inc. in Rehoboth, which he owned and operated for over 30 years and is now operated by his son and daughter since Mr. Sidok’s retirement in 2005. He was a member and past president of the Rhode Island Alarm Association.
Mr. Sidok served in the National Guard in Newport for 12 years. He was a graduate of the former DeLaSalle in Newport, Class of 1949.
Very active throughout his life in the community, Mr. Sidok was an over 40-year member and Past Grand Knight of the Seekonk #5108 Knights of Columbus, an over 30 year member, and past president, treasurer and recipient of the Melvin Jones Award of the Rehoboth Lions Club. He was a member of the 325th Anniversary of the town of Rehoboth, and chairman of the Boy Scouts of America troop #1 of Rehoboth for 7 years. He was also past faithful Navigator – Edward Douglas White Assembly 4th Degree for 30 years and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Excelsior Lodge #49 in Portsmouth, RI since 2008.
A communicant of St. Dominic’s Church in Swansea for over 22 years, he served as a Eucharistic Minister and co-coordinator of the Eucharistic Ministers, was on the finance committee, chairman of Catholic Charities, president of its St. Vincent de Paul Society and a Marian Medal recipient in 2002. In Florida, Mr. Sidok was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister of Sacred Heart Church. He was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award, to community church and his fellow man by the Rehoboth Lions Club in 2001.
Mr. Sidok is survived by three children, Susan Charpentier of Rehoboth, Henry Sidok, Jr. and his wife Lynne of Seekonk and Alan Sidok of Providence; son-in-law, Joseph Saleeba of Rehoboth; 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Danielle and Mark Saleeba, Jason Sidok, Bethany Marshall, Alicia Tahsoh, David and Christopher Charpentier; 19 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Peter, Tyler, Zachary, Jenna, McKenzie, Brianna, Trevor, Logan, Abigail, Samantha, Sidney Jr., Jules, Derrick, Hugo, Brent, Bruce, Maxwell and Mila; one great-great granddaughter, Blair Cynthia as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Cynthia Saleeba, brother of the late Phyllis M. Ewart and father-in-law of the late Rene Charpentier.
